Armature /ˈärməCHər/

“A metal framework on which a sculpture is molded with clay or similar material.”

Update from our cactus sculpture project with Bimmer Torres… We have designed a waffle-grid structure also known as an armature to create the dimensional nodes of our cactus using the Rhino3d software platform. The individual parts of the design have been laser-cut from 3/16” flat steel panels which interlock together to build the dimensional shapes, similar to a 3D wooden dinosaur puzzle. Once everything fits in it’s proper place we will weld the armature and begin forming the exterior steel facade. Documentarian and Mutual friend, Fa’al Ali of Eazy Media, has been with us in the studio capturing video and still footage, he is producing a video of the entire process which will go live after the sculpture gets installed at the end of the year!
